Yeah, this is pretty insidious. Have your fake crap, but don't use the same NSN's. Thats just borderline negligent homicide.

And don't forget the combat medics. You don't think they wake up at night screaming, with memories of the guys "they could've saved"?

These guys aren't just ruining single families with their shite...

Thew comment that comes to mind immediately is: this is fucking heinous.
This is wrong on so many levels. I hope that the company pays for the funerals and damages that this fucking atrocity gathers as it rolls down hill.

sending a shitload of them to EMT's/military/whatever without a reasonable receiver being able to go "shit these are fakes!" immediately makes it more than a smidge past boarder line there. Of course I'm assuming the person/agency who received it didn't just go "shit, no refunds!" in the middle of wartime. Then again the Army did buy all those crusader tanks that one time.

While I am not trying to minimize the fact that these toys are a serious threat to the safety of our troops in the field. One does have to make sure the focus is put on how a toy made it into a military supply chain. The NSN printed on the toy seems to be only there to make the toy seem more real, which is exactly what the airsoft community seems to crave. They are packaged like a toy. The labeling on the package does not appear to have the NSN number listed on it. Considering that from my experiences in the military, one cannot just go out and buy operational equipment at the local Wal-mart, it would seem that there may be something more going on behind this part of the story. Did an overzealous supply officer find a sweet deal on CATs and tried to save Uncle Sam Money? Maybe it's something even darker? Maybe there are people who knew it was a toy, knew it was cheap, and switched the products to pocket the difference in money saved. Either way, it sounds like the proper people that this is affecting are aware of the issue, and they are working to remedy the situation.

I'm not really sure what the purpose of posting this on a paintball blog though?

Again it's a tragedy that a life was lost, but I have a hard time believing that World-Element ever intended their toy to end up on a real battlefield.

****-
The main reason I put it up here was to help drive home the fact that the mil-sim aspect of stuff sometimes is too real and people get hurt.

How many people have you heard say "It's ok, no one is getting hurt with my (insert mil-sim) equipment?

Having been in airsoft and paintball, this was important. I mean, what do they need these made for in airsoft again? I mean there has to be someone to say dude, while you can make whatever you want, you might want to think about this before you do it.

Hawk, this is probably a case of the good idea fairey....someone saw a great price on CATs, didn't bother to research the vendor, and ordered a pallet or 10 of them...there isn't much oversight at Troop, or hell, even Squadron level purchases..
