I agree that it's sad to see a 'dumbing down' of this aspect of the game. This past weekend at Viper's game I HAD AN ENEMY CARD IN MY HAND and gave it back to the player because of this new rule. Oh well....

TB - remember when you (and Nudi) gave me that enemy card and the secure radio? I pulled base guard on the enemy side and an hour into the game they were PISSED OFF. That was epic. And the card already had a number on it - I just crossed it out and wrote mine. When asked, I just said I had put the wrong number down from an old badge....

I guess that'll never happen again.....

In the few years that I've been out of paintball, my friends and mentors seem to have just exploded into a thousand shards. This is painful to witness.

My daughter wants to play scenario ball, so there's a decent chance that my crippled ass will be hobbling around fields on blistered feet. It's worth it for her, but it would be more fun if more of the old faces were around.

Maybe paintball players should stay away from Google! (Facebook seems to be safe, though)

The exposure to Ivan's games that I've had, which have been reffing a couple and playing a couple, I found them to be a bit disorganized for my personal taste, with there being way too much opportunity for creative liberties with the scoring if one side is taking a beating, just to make it "competitive". That's not my cup of tea.

In all fairness, the last Ivan game I attended was 4 or 5 years ago, so I don't have a recent opinion. Also, I never had any issues with him personally and I hope that my comment didn't insinuate that.

My comment wasn't meant to be as much of an indictment of the current quality of Ivan's games as it was a venting of my disgust when it comes to Viper games. I used to only play Kerry's games after having been to Tactical games and Ivan's games. My reasoning was I thought that Viper's games carried a very player oriented scoring system that rewarded the players and teams that were willing to bust their asses and work for the score. Alas, I watched as that changed and the teams were all of a sudden villified for putting the foot on the accelerator and never letting off. I saw the game being watered down instead of encouraging the players to learn the rules and make them work to their advantage. I agree that you have to cater to the customer since you are offering a product, but at the same time there is an equilibrium you can achieve without comprimising the competitive integrity of the game and dumbing it down.
Amber, If Ivan were to produce a game out at Blacklands paintball, I guarantee you that if my work and family schedule didn't hinder it, I'd be there to help out Frank and Jimmy and I'd bring along as many people as I could.

Thanks to an enormous amount of BS, a lot of players made that choice this weekend.

And seeing as how I'm biased (being Ivan's wife and all), I'm totally the wrong person to comment on the quality of his games. I can say though that he's always looking for ways to improve the games and fun new stuff for players to do, and I'm certain he'd welcome any constructive feedback / suggestions you may have.

To my knowledge, there aren't a whole lot of options for fields in that area and the players I've met from East Texas are all kinds of awesome. I know the area fairly well (beautiful place) - I graduated from MHPS in '96 and attended NTCC for a few years before moving to DFW. I have been trying to talk Ivan into moving out that way permanently for the past year. I've still got buddies out that way and I'm looking for any excuse to come visit for a weekend. I'd be interested in helping out any way I could just as a matter of "home town pride".

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I'll hang up my gear and never step foot on a field again if my only option was to play a Viper game. Hell, my wife would probably divorce me if I tried to go back. I'd play a fucking IVAN game before I'd play a Viper game these days.

I have been witness to the backstage manipulation of Kerry playing his politics when he made TB and therefore Thunderstruck unwelcome. I was asked by my former team Captain, at Viper's behest, to not stir the pot when I simply questioned the integrity of these actions. I've talked to other players who have been verbally bitch slapped for simply being on speaking terms with other producers.
But I didn't think he'd go this far. Frank and Jimmy were always good to me and were nothing but a blast to hang out with. The only thing I ever heard any of them talking about was wanting to make sure the guys that played out there had a great time.
I was content with not giving him my money, but refrained from trying to persuade anyone else to stay away. I think I'll be reevaluating that position now.

Any other questions? This is just once instance where Kerry's lack of morals and integrity have screwed over someone in the sport. In this instance it was people willing to help him and stand good for him with other people, only to get fucked over.

And paintball, as a whole, is less for it as no one in that area has a cool field to play, Blacklands can't host games without some work on a lot of people's parts. The future of it depends on a lot of different people.

This is Jimmy for those of yall who don't know me. Those who do know I don't normally get involved in politics and drama and things. I just liked to play paintball and give folks a great place to play and feel at home. I didn't read this entire thread (it is quite lengthy), but here is a comment from those who were done wrong - simply facts...

There was an agreement between Kerry, Frank and myself. That agreement was not met, with maybe half of the monetary terms unfulfilled. Then, without fully meeting the terms of the agreement whereby said person could assume full ownership - many key items were removed from the premises without our permission (some would call this theft). This in turn, has made it impossible for us to continue to host paintball games (or 'compete' with his games, I guess you could say). Said person also reneged on his contract with the land owner, and is currently in breach of contract for lease terms not met.

The land owner, is a long time friend of ours. So I was deeply ashamed at introducing him to someone of such low character who would do such things to those who were business partners as well as friends (please note the 'past tense'). Frank and I are attempting to come up with ways to make restitution to Mr. Black, the actual land owner for BlackLands Paintball. However, as it sits, without the money owed and the materials taken, BlackLands Paintball is done.

I am not one for involving others into matters, so charges will not be filed by myself. However, I do feel that what goes around comes around, and a pissed off redneck is NOT what you want to meet on a dark back road...

TB, I know why you don't play at his games. I've commented on that before. My hesitance has nothing to do with your bias, that would be an insult to your integrity. It is only the seriousness and, in my experience with viper, out of charecter actions your saying he took.

I'm sure you remember the similar stance I took on the pacman thing, which was both more serious and less personal.

The really telling thing about all of this is the fact that despite everything TB has said on his blog and how inflammatory some of it is... aside from a few "NUH UH" comments from people like 'Wayne' I've found no legitimate sources that can debunk any of these claims. And the rumor mill is running overtime on this story.

If it weren't true, wouldn't it be in the best interests of Viper and Cousins to issue a statement? *crickets*

Well Frank and Jimmy have read this and have said that they will post here an official statement from them.

As far as pressing charges that is up to them, but a lot of it is he said, she said I doubt it.

Doesn't change the fact that he fucked them and has tried to keep it quiet. Or that he sold stolen items to Cousins and Jed took them.

Still have yet to see a post anywhere disputing this from either of them (Ratsnake or Jed) saying otherwise. And for the people who have called Frank and/or Jimmy, you have been told it is true by them to your own ears.
