Monday Commentary
By TB on Aug 20, 2007 | In TB's Soapbox | 2 feedbacks »
So after a weekend out of town, I of course come back to an email box full of comments. It seems that my comments on the BBB has activated the PAB Emergency Network and they have come out in droves. But as in all things, I also got some encouraging emails, supportive emails and a very cool phone call that lasted for a couple of hours. But we will get into that more. So here is the current state of things, and my Monday Morning opinions of the things that people (both PAB's and not) have sent me.
So let's start off with the Bi-Weekly (Bi, that's funny for this person)PM from Voodoo
Not sure what a PAB is but, thanks for all of the publicity. I actually have gotten two sponsorship offers and about 5 ol' buds from SA look me up, thanks to your gallery.
That is pretty cool. Who would have known, you actually helped re-network with some guys I almost contact with and, help put some $ in my pocket.
Thanks again,
I do love the publicity.
Ok, Brad for the cheap seats, PAB is short for Punk Ass Bitch, got me now? 2 sponsorship offers? Wow so you are telling me that finally someone is getting outside sponsorship support? So tell us what is Massengil Disposable Douches and Monostat OTC offering you for sponsorship? I can see the press release now:
Today, Brad "Voodoo' Lamb announced that he was proud to be sponsored by Massengil Disposable Douches for the remaining of the 2007 season. Brad was quoted as saying "You know that there are days when you just don't feel so fresh and that is when these will come in handy. Pull them out of your handly pod pack and a few squirts and you are back in the game and fresh as can be. Look for a Voodoo scent coming soon."
And in other news, Monostat OTC was proud to announce that they also signed Brad 'Voodoo' Lamb to a sponsorship deal. "There is nothing worse then a yeast infection when you are on the field kicking as much ass as I do," Said Brad Lamb "So when I got to get back in the game quick, I simply put some of this on my fingers and I let the medicine do the rest. And then I am back in the game, with a quickness. It's a trick I learned in my Special Forces days, and with my background as a low speed high drag operator, I use tips and tricks like this all the time"
Both companies would love to add other players of Brad 'Voodoo' Lamb's caliber, so if you have been classified as a PAB by that guy they call TB, please give us a call. Because if he said, then you must be it and our products will be the rage of PAB's nationwide.
Something like that Brad? And 5 friends from SA? AS in San Antonio? Why am I not surprised then that some 'unknown' from SA who 'saw' me cheat got on here and posted in the same post that I posted about you. How strange is that? How great for you, it's a PAB convention and well I guess you can be the grand poobah of them all. Maybe you guys can get together and start the 'TB is a mean man, who has no skills and cheats to compensate for his manliness issues' network? Maybe TBISAPOOPIEHEAD.com? Then everytime someone emails you, you can get a little laugh in, right? I mean voodoo@tbisapoopiehead.com is pretty funny right?
And I am glad I could make sure you got paid, because you have been a good little bitch and well good little bitches should get what's coming to them.
And then we have this one from the PBjunkie site:
TB,
what you say is no doubt true - but I know from the promoters side of things - and having dealt with everything from TRADOC to Recreational, Morale & etc offices - that if you aren't the contractor, you really have no business discussing business.
They want to consult with you - fine; the want to hire civilian consultants - fine. They want to have a friendship and discuss shared experiences - fine.
But if you are talking to folks responsible for coordinating the use of military facilities by civilians, you've got no business. You have no idea what the promoter is saying, doing, etc (be it good or bad), what they need to say or do in order to make things work (be it good or bad) and they (the promoter) would have every right to view such discussions as nose-butting-in and potentially detrimental to your business.
One of the things that KILLED the use of another MOUT site was exactly that kind of thing - unsolicited "advice" from parties who had absolutelty no contractual involvement with the event.
You further have no idea of the potential effects (good or bad) of what your suggestions or commentary might be; something you say could cause more or less money to be spent, the addition or withdrawal of services, etc., etc.
And, if such conversations did end up costing the provider more money, you could find yourself being asked to pony it up in a court over business interference accusations or similar.
Friends or no (with folks at the base), you have no business "interfering" with what Billy is doing. Let him shine or hang on his own merits. The people at Blanding have more than enough history with doing this now to judge for themselves whether someone did a good job or not.
LOL, ok. I guess that is one way to look at it. So Scott, when you read this you can't talk to me about anything having to do with Blanding no more. No more anything for you because this guy said so. So I am not allowed to respond to people who ask and value my opinion or should they not be asking for it? All because you think or had some experience that led you to believe that? And then you make a statement like they want to talk to you fine but then you say that I shouldn't talk to them? Or are you accusing me of 'poking my nose in business that don't concern me?' If so, it would be easier to say that. However it is my business, and why is that? Because I made it so, that's why. And so many people can choose to like it or not, but it is what it is.
Actually what killed the other MOUT site was someone using fear tactics and such to have a competitor pushed out of a cool venue. Blanding has had other promoters and experience with paintball and promoters. The comments did not cause them to cancel the venue only to put things in place to make sure that bad things don't get overlooked. However, you guys still seem to think I am out to hurt Billy and LCP for some reason. Mostly because the majority of you have issues with Viper for some reason and since Billy is in bed with MXS, you think that if someone says something negative about either of them, it must be the benefit him in some way. Otherwise, the fact that MXS tried everything they could to have the MOUT site drop Viper, yet none of you have brought out your righteous indignation to that. No then it was Viper coming into MXS's game and trying to be better then them and we should all respect them because that was their place, right? And now you are trying to use the same arguement that so many others used against MXS when they called sponsors, vendors and even the military contacts and whined like little babies. And guess what, Viper hasn't and wouldn't do that to Billy. Viper as he has told me, has no beef with Billy. He doesn't deal a lot with Billy because of the stigma that comes against Wayne to do that. And he did that for the 10 years he was friends with Packman and he wasn't going to do that again. However you guys come up with your own reasons, it's obvious you will, one way or the other.
And you say I have no idea what it might do, no I have a very good idea of what it will do and what it has done. And it hasn't hurt the event in one damn way. People are more fired up more then ever to make sure the event has a good game. The word is already getting out to the masses that don't read this website or any website, what is expected of them. And there should not be any of the issues that were at the other Free Finales and could be overlooked because Billy was the promoter and the field owner. And what possible things could be withdrawn that wasn't offered?
LOL, what no porta-potties because the mean TB said someone might write on the walls? We were going to have Santa Clause fly in on his sleigh and distribute toys to all the good boys and girls, but that mean ole TB done messed that up. Santa will not be there this year because he posted on his website the financials of a game and said that he had concerns if the game could go off without a hitch that didn't cause more issues. Oh yeah, and every time TB's mentions that there may be problems the prive of paint goes up $5.00, at this rate he will make the game more expensive then that 'elite' Viper game and that was his intention all along. Something like that?
And if Billy wants to sue me for 'business interference' he can go ahead and roll the dice, but he might want to look at MXS for what happens when you sue people for dumb ass things. But then again that's what happens when you take MXS on as your consultants on how to do a Blanding game. It must be all that 'free' help that they are giving Billy right? And while he didn't say it, I must say that I am not surprised that the 'threat' of court or attornies was brought forth. This from the same sentiment of players that if you shoot someone in the head on the paintball field then you should be arrested and charged with assault.
And in your final paragraph it becomes clear your point, which is we don't like what you have to say, we don't like the fact that they may talk to you because they shouldn't like you either, and because you may cause us to have to do something we don't like, then you should shut the fuck up and go away. But as I have stated before, I am not going anywhere. The things needed to be said, the subjects needed to be broached and they needed to be done publicly so that people could offer to help, people could do what needed to be done and others couldn't hide things behind the smoke screen. I am sorry that you are just maybe a little upset that they would dare talk to me about Billy, or take my opinions in thought as they deal with things. Or you that scared that what I posted may come true? I mean if they have so much experience and I am just blowing hot air, are they too stupid to see it that the only way to keep them from 'over reacting' is to try and convince everyone that I am the bad guy for saying it? Wow, you sold them short, while accusing me of doing that as well, right?
Nevermind, I am sure most people will say I am spinning it my way. 'Den agin it could be dem big words that TB like to use to purtend his is smarter then oder folks, right?'
And finally, I made the Mousetrap Radio Show. I must say that I listened to his latest show and it has a lot of potential. The only thing bad I have to say is that so far it is all about SE and paintball there, and from the appearances the independants rather then supporting the bigger scene. Not a slam to Jason at all, and I hope he does expand the show to cover more of scenario paintball. Hey all you haters that want to say TB is a punk and you are going to show me, send Jason all your scenario news, your games, and the gossip you know so that he can make his show better. That'll show me right? Since I might have just said something a little negative, right? Before you know it, there will be 50 sponsors all supporting it because that evil TB said something negative.
'Damn you TB, you can't even give the common man his radio show without coming to piss on it. Who are you to say that he needs to expand the coverage and such? Who made you the expert? And if he does have to expand coverage now, he is going to send you the bill or sue you for making him have to work harder. You SOB, TB, curse you!'
But back to reality, I talked to Jason for some time yesterday, and while on the BBB issue in the beginning we didn't see eye to eye on anything, at least now we see eye to eye on making sure the players take care of the site, and that he will do whatever it takes to make the event a success. And since I've known of him for years, even though he thought I didn't know who he was or his place in the SE, doesn't mean I don't. Jason, if there is anything I can do to help grow your show, you let me know. But I do hope that you expand it out to cover the NE, Midwest, Southwest and West Coast.
Website is here.
Now as I told him yesterday, I was born in GA and lived in SC until I went in the Marines in 1989 and then returned in 1996 and lived there again till 2001. I have gone back many times and my family is 'Old Money' in SC. And I have many relatives who would be classified as rednecks, and hey I love NASCAR as much as the next one, although well my family almost disowned me because I like Jeff Gordon instead of the Earnhardt clan. Now I am sure I jsut insulted about 90% of you players in that area now, but Gordon is hated and he wins, consistently. And he will end up eclipsing the ones that are revered in that sport and it will not matter since so many people get hung up on other things but the man's skill level. But when I use the term redneck, I know it, I might have been one myself in a past life. It is like black people using the 'N-word', who else can use it as satire and it not be considered racist? So you people that are running around and thinking I don't get you because I compared you to Deliverance need to remember where that movie was shot. LOL But if it bothered you that bad, maybe you should take a look as to why. You might be able to solve your own self-esteem issues because I do get tired of hearing how none of the 'common players' get respect. Let me tell you, us 'elite' players don't get any either.
My Buddy, Brad/Voodoo/Snake Doc or whatever you call yourself

Well here is another of my fans, this one though is truly 'special' in my eyes. Some of you that follow Special Ops forums may remember his blatant attacks on me, Smart Parts, Viper, Archon and anyone else he could try and blame for the game at Blanding at which his heroes, Special Ops got kicked so hard in the ass that they are still travelling on the way to the moon. But Brad, before you get on here or go somewhere else and talk shit, just remember, you said all press is a good press and you thanked me for the 'Big Ups' I gave to you and your friends. So here you go, Brad, this is for you.
A little history on Brad, if you will. I first met Brad at the game in Florida a few years back. The first time I ran into Brad was on the field when he was really being a prick to the players on both sides as he was so 'intense'. In fact, it was the initial meeting that started the trip down the road of confrontation between Packman and Brad that led to the majority of Blitzkrieg to walk away from the team. Now I have never said that Packman was in the wrong so much about his response to Brad as it was that he was a promoter and should have known better. More so with the politics of the team with members trying to include a code of conduct and none of the ones had done anything like that. To be honest, Brad needed his ass whipped then. I doubt Packman could have done it, but who knows. Brad likes to point things out about my arrogance and such, but well I don't think I have ever acted the way he did or said the things he said that day.
Part of the excuse that Packman came up with was the Brad told him, he was 'connected' and would have him taken care of. According to Mother that was why Packman bowed up like he did, because Brad threatened his life. Now of course none of them remember that now, however I do have those comments on tape.
But I digress, it seems that Brad got a hard on for me after the Blanding game, well probably before but who the hell knows. There are several posts here from Brad about me, my Marine Corps Career, my paintball skills and more. I chose to put them all here for those that want to read it, just so that it is fresh in their minds what he said and when he said it.
The first couple of ones are PM's that I got in the last few days, then one where he wants to make peace the middle of July. So he hated me, called me a disgrace to the uniform and then wanted to make peace, and now he's back to the hate and such. I'll post more at then end of his posts.
From PBNATION PM's
Peace is for pussies, but, love is for you.

You want a war dude? Look me up. Being Bi-Polar is a battle field force multiplyer...as so many in SO/SF can attest to. It limits your emotional response to the realities of war. The key is maintaining it in an undiagnosed condition...unless you closed with the enemy on a daily/hourly basis, you may not know of this. (not a jab, just reality of small unit (platoon level) close quarter combat over several weeks in SA)
I could care less about you, your crony buddy Viper or his apparently-rediculously expensive to produce scenarios. But, I do so love conflict. It inspires the war fighter.
If you care about the quality of the production at the Free Finale at Blanding, be sure to be there. I am sure that your input would be invaluable.
I will ensure that NEITHER of us end up in the stockade.
Oh, thanks again for bumping the Free PR for Ultimate Judgement, Spec Ops, me/Snake Doc/Voodoo (real cool and earned IRL) and Billy's Free Finale. (As a side, I earned my moniker in the Army, in 1987, during field medic training for SO)...I kept the XXXX alive for 5 minutes using only my right hand and three fingers of my left.
No such thing as bad PR...as long as no-one gets sued over it, lol.
I like when you call me Brad...it makes me feel warm and fuzzy.
take care and keep on keeping me entertained,
Brad

See I have a cousin who was a Major in the 10th Special Forces from 1983-1990 and then in another unit til he retired a Lt Col. Just wondering if he might know you since the SF at that time was not a huge group of people. Then again, another friend of mine was a SGT in the 5th from 1988-1996.
But hey this is all in your court, by the way if you think any press is good press, you need to re-evaluate your thought processes. And bi-polarism is a guaranteed discharge from any unit, special or not.
Look at what, Larry, a speachless ****tard?
#1, do your own research, you do not have my respect, let alone are you worth a trip down memory lane with.
#2, good for you and your family, it was a semi-small group back then...bigger now, less personal
#3, me, make a name for myself at your expense...well, I guess you can couch it that way to make it sting less...your ego is enlightening...I bet you tortured small animals as a child.
#4, I found it interesting your knowledge level of pharmaceuticals for the treatment of certain disorders...others did too, I imagine.
#5, I read that you are considering coming to Billy's Blanding Bash...by all means, and, please reintroduce yourself.
Have a nice, quiet day...

TB,
All of the animosity between us (viper, indy, nudi..etc...), is really rediculous and I feel less honorable for it. As evidenced by my responses on threads here and at PBN, I do NOT wish ill will on the Invitational...in point of fact, and please pass this along to indy and/or viper, I really do hope it goes well. It will be the start of something really new and interesting...adding something new for the ol' baller to be challenged by
I just hope we can pick a different venue in FL next time...focus on some woodsball. I spent enough time at in/under/over Blanding in full gear to not really relish the place, lol. But, that is just one jaded opinion.
Take care and I really do want to put this all behind us...all of us.
Sincerely,
Voodoo
Brad

TB(the god of recball, woodsball and teacher of all things scenarioball...even the bad),
LOL!
You have read and reread your recreational resume to the point that you believe you earned all of those awards, and are as good as your hype?
Now, if you actually derive funds from this recreational activity, then, it is proper for you to roll out your "I love me" sheet for all to see...BUT, your awards would mean a little more if you did not receive so many at events where you and TS were "specially invited" and "sponsored".
I have attended 37 scenarios & 15 big games in a little over 5 years. Nearly 96% of which, from recollection, were fair, had GREAT PAINT from a known manufacturer, and had zero negative AARs. Of those events, I have been comped in 3 times, once as a general (won) and twice as XO (won).
VOODOO
TO TB: If you want to fight so bad, re-up. You obviously did not see any REAL combat. I also make it a personal moray not engage in combat with the mentally handicapped, so, I will leave you alone. (In a personal email to me, TB challenged me to a fight, fists, feet, teeth, nails....whatever)...
I was so scarred, I had to turn him down...this is your sponsored team captain...great, great example of the type of team that SP supports? This is the way to win friends and influence people? I also read where NUDI is not in this to make friends (Viper Forums, this subject). This is yet another example of the type of team code of conduct that SP Jumps to sponsor?
Viper, as I said, I like you and your plan, I do not care for some of your associations when it is obvious that they have severe fair, fun play issues and feel the need to INFLICT pain on newb, youngins and old vets...where is the fun in that?
...only in the mind of someone with a real problem...who plays teepee in the tub with thier paintball resume.

Larry,
You are an insult to the armed forces and an obvious poser as a recon marine. I have never had discourse with such a low life with such high opinions of oneself...certainly not one who wore the marpat.
I would be glad to meet you and further discuss your issues with fair play, overshooting children, shooting hot at night and the following morning.
But, I know your type. You have more mouth that azz and would probably ruin his shoes when faced with a real live adult.
You make my taint itch, really.
Speaking of which, Larry, I needed toilet paper at the event and could only find copies of your resume posted in the portajohns...sorry. I added two MVPs and a spot of MVT for you.
Love and Kisses, Marine,
Voodoo
Brad
ENOUGH SAID. LOL.
So as you can see, the dude is a fruitcake and is quite the speaker as well. So much so that I decided to look up his Special Ops brigade page and I found quite the surprise. Here it is for posterity:

And yes you read that right, he says he is an O-5 US Army retired and Ranger Qualified. He also has hinted in his PM's and posts to being Special Forces qualified. This all done from a guy born in 1967. Are there any 40 year old LT. Col's in the SF that I don't know about? I mean that is some major moving and shaking in the Army. And you cant't see it very well but he is a Master at every position that Special Ops has, from Commander, the Hammer all the way down to Sniper. He has done and it appears mastered them all. Yet he has only commanded one game and XO'd twice, but hell thats better then the 1 star and 2 star generals on Spec Ops Brigade combined!
Here is his page BTW: http://www.specialopspaintball.com/brigade/member_view.asp?id=5696
Take a look at the play log and see how many back yeard or recball games there are in there. And this dude is a Major on the Spec Ops page? Wow, high speed, low drag for sure. Then you see all the pics, like this one:

All decked out in his ACU's and beret. That's pretty tough looking dude, but nothing near as tough as this:

Now I am really scared, Brad or is it George? I mean since you took to calling me Larry and that is no where in my name. My name is Lawrence, not Larry, but since you tried to use it as a some kind of derogatory snipe, how about I call you Georgey? That better for you?
So let me ask you, after reading all the above, what are your opinions there people? Is George/Brad/Snake Doc/Voodoo/Rogue Voodoo/Rogue Warrior/Rogue Thunder not one of the biggest jokes out there? Do his attacks at me look like jealousy or penis envy to you, as much as it does to me? Is there not a person in health care who thinks that he has some deep seated mental issues and needs professional help? Maybe that is what this is, a cry for help. Maybe he is trying to get someone to help him out, the only thing I would help him with is holding the rope while he jumps off the chair. But that's just me.
So make you famous enough Brad? Still like the press no matter if it is good or bad? You are the first in what is sure to be a long line of PAB's to make the Gallery of PAB's. That is an award you can put on your resume for sure now! Verdict? PAB indeed, so here he is PAB Gallery Member #001

Nough said! ;)
Who's worse, Fantasy Role Players or Mil-sim Warriors?
By TB on Aug 8, 2007 | In TB's Soapbox | 19 feedbacks »
I've been thinking on this one for a while as I see more and more teams move to the 'mil-sim' style of play. That isn't a bad thing, I think it is cool that people are interested in the tactical aspect of the game and want to band together. Even more so that they try to emulate military discipline and enact some type of co-ordination at the squad level. However, to think that they are any different then the guy who dressed up as an Orc is a fallacy and one that should be exposed right now.
Scenario Paintball is a fantasy game, meaning that none of it is real. No matter what you are in real life, you are never the character you are playing in the game. And the game doesn't play like real life, so in essence by stepping on the field you are assuming the basics of a role player. Even if it is set in WWII or Vietnam, you are still playing the role of a soldier there. So let's set that down right here and there. The only difference between the person playing the Orc and the person playing the member of Seal Team 6 is the aesthetics of the game.
But even more bizarre is the propagation of the mil-sim teams that have cropped up everywhere. These are the guys who have named themselves after famous 'bad-asses' from movies and TV, with names like Rogue Warrior, Snake-Doc, and such in the attempts to cloak themselves in the 'bad-asseness' that these TV characters portray. They all have the typical 'machismo' photos of them pimping and posing in their team 'tactical' uniform that looks a lot like a US Army or USMC uniform, some even complete with rank insignia and badges. I have seen teams go so far as to designate awards and medals to be won within the team.
And I get accused of taking the game to serious? LOL, that's a funny one there. This is a game, like checkers or football and some take the game play serious and others take the trappings and fantasy just as serious, even if they don't see it. Page on page of 'tactics', weekends of 'training', matching mil-sim uniforms, $1000 worth of add-ons to their marker to make it look like the weapon their 'fantasy' character would be humping through the bush. Team names that run the gambit of the "penis envy' world, I mean with a name like Ultimate Judgment what else can you think? What are you judging me? Are you a Christian-based team representing God as the Ultimate Judgment? Are you a ref based team? I mean, it is a COOL sounding name, but what does it mean? That is only one example there are others like 1st Woods ball Special Forces, or Team Death From Above, but I mean they are all in the same vein. And once again, I take the game to serious?
I have had people throw up my time in the Marines back at me, that I take the game so serious that must not have gotten enough time there or served anywhere cool or got into anything that some would consider 'the shit'. All because I don't dress up in the same uniform I wore for 8 years, pretending to still be in a branch that I am not in, playing marine/soldier? Listen guys, I served my time in the Marines, honorably, and I traveled to lots of places and did lots of cool things. Were they Top Secret? No, but some were classified, but I don't live on those days. Very few people in paintball know much about my military career, and I am good with that. I am a scenario paintball player; the only thing that should matter is my ability to play the game and the impact that gets made. Trapping me in my military past does nothing but resort back down to a penis measuring game in yet another realm, and isn't that taking the game seriously?
So the guy who shows up the Wizards of Wor game dressed like a 16th level wizard is different from the guy who shows up to the WWII game dressed as a SS Oberstgruppenführer how? Whether you throw spells or shoot nerf rounds from a 'LAW' are you really any different? Remember that next time you make fun of the guy who shows up looking like an Orc. Take a look in the mirror and see if you have on ACU's and a beret, along with your mocked up A-5 and tactical vest.
Too many people think that I am putting myself above them or being sanctimonious. The fact is this, I am a pretty good scenario paintball player, better at Command and Control then most and I have run the gambit of positions on a field. I don't think I am better then everyone, I don't try to come across that way when I talk to people. I try to teach as much as they want and will allow. I don't always agree with people and I am very opinionated. I don't knock people's playing style until they come after me and mine. I take the game play serious, other then that; I don't take much more serious other then respect of the time that I and my team have spent on the field. To me it is more to make an impact on the field then to have pimping Digital ACU's with matching boots. But if that is your bag, I won't knock it, till you come after me, or sit and make fun of others. Or throw I am too serious or it is all about recreation, when the appearances is from you it is all about playing GI Joe.
Forgiveness, Judgement, Jesus and Packman - Why The Arguement Doesnt Hold Water
By TB on Jul 10, 2007 | In TB's Soapbox | 15 feedbacks »
Well I guess it is time to take these people to task yet again. And in doing so, I will reveal a little about myself. See I used to be a youth minister in the Southern Baptist Church, I was raised in a Pentecostal Holiness Church and almost went to Seminary to become a minister before I decided an entirely different track and joined the Marine Corps. However that is another story, but what I am getting at here is that I am about to take some of these people who use Jesus Christ's words in an attempt to make what Packman did 23 years ago 'off limits' for judgement by his fellow peers and customers in the scenario paintball community. And the simple fact is, I am tired of people who have no right to use those words to begin with using them in ways that suit the point that they think that they have in regards to this matter. I simply wanted you people to see where I was coming from. My own religous preference is not that big a subject, however I am not running around quoting scripture either. But I will be this time, this blog will be unlike any other as I attempt to point out to people what I think about people who use the dogma and words of Jesus to justify not only their actions, but words and deeds as well as a defense and a way to push others to inaction by declaring things that aren't true.
So for the first passage that so many have quoted and it appears taken out of context is the statement by Jesus found in Matthew 7:1: “Do not judge lest you also be judged”. It is as if that is the entire extent of the biblical revelation in regards to this matter, right?
Taken by itself, it is an appealing passage for an group of people in scenario paintball and society that has abandoned any notion of absolute right and wrong, and has welcomed an emasculated notion of tolerance as the sum and substance of morality. Today the only sin is to be intolerant, judgmental, critical of others. You have to be 'without ANY sin' to be able to say anything against what these people choose to allow and follow. And the one great virtue is ‘tolerance’, albeit a wrongly understood notion of tolerance.
Tolerance used to mean that one could respect another person while having serious reservations about their ideas, worldviews, philosophies or lifestyles. But today we have twisted the notion to mean that we must accept and embrace every belief, every behaviour, every creed and every action if it affects what we want to do.
But the very notion of tolerance presupposes differences. One doesn’t tolerate someone or something that one agrees with. There has to be a difference of opinion before toleration even comes into play. Thus the biblical and traditional understanding of tolerance is that we tolerate people, but not necessarily their beliefs or behaviours.
Which brings us back to Matt. 7:1. Is Jesus really saying we should not critically assess all beliefs and behaviours? Is he really saying we cannot judge or evaluate any activity or dogma? Hardly. Simply break out your bibles and read a bit more of the chapter where Jesus speaks about the need to watch out for false prophets (vv. 15ff). Of course to do so means we must judge, assess, and critically ascertain what a person is saying, teaching by example or allowing others to do for our own self enjoyment.
Jesus goes on to say we must judge people by their fruit. A good tree brings forth good fruit, a bad tree bad fruit. This all involves making moral and spiritual assessments, discerning right from wring, truth from error. Exercising judgment, in other words. Judgement based on facts and truthful statements not supposition and shady word games.
So what was he speaking about in verse one? In the verses that follow, he explains: he says we should not judge hypocritically. If we judge another person for doing something, all the while doing the very thing ourselves, we stand condemned, says Jesus. This passage certainly does not mean we cannot make moral and theological appraisals and assessments.
It simply means that if you conduct yourself in the same manner that you accuse others of doing then you are a hypocrite in the eyes of Jesus and not able to effectively judge your fellow man. However, if you are not guilty of the crime that you see as morally reprehensible then it is your duty to point out that crime and try to bring that person to the forgiveness of Jesus. But the walking of the path of righteousness is indeed a small one. As in Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: And what that means is Christ came to teach us, not only what we are to know and believe, but what we are to do; not only toward God, but toward men; not only toward those of our party and persuasion, but toward men in general, all with whom we have to do. We must do that to our neighbour which we ourselves acknowledge to be fit and reasonable. We must, in our dealings with men, suppose ourselves in the same case and circumstances with those we have to do with, and act accordingly. There are but two ways right and wrong.
Indeed, look carefully through the four Gospels and you will find plenty of verses on judgment which are almost never cited by the moral relativists. Consider John 9:39 for example: “For judgment I have come into this world”. He says this in relation to the unbelieving Jews of his day who would not receive him.
Having just healed a man of blindness, Jesus goes on to make a very judgmental claim about his foes: because they claim to see, when they are really spiritually blind, they are still in their sins. Only those who acknowledge their need, their blindness, will in the end be able to see.
The truth is, Jesus was constantly being intolerant and judgmental. In the previous chapter he referred to his spiritual opponents as being of their father, the devil (8:44). Not exactly very tolerant language that. Or what about in chapter ten when he very intolerantly claims to be the one true shepherd, and all others are thieves and robbers?
But some might appeal to John 3: 17 where Jesus says he comes into the world not to condemn, but to save. There is no contradiction here, however. Keep reading the following verses. His salvific mission is a two-edged sword. Those who receive him and his message obtain forgiveness and mercy; those who reject him and his word bring condemnation onto themselves. Indeed, they are condemned already, because they reject the only means to receive favour with God. Jesus says very clearly in this passage that people love darkness rather than light, so they reject the light. They love the darkness because their deeds are evil, and they hate the light because it exposes their evil deeds.
This is all very judgmental and intolerant by today’s standards. But that is simply because we have given up on notions of truth and universal right and wrong. There is no more black and white, only 99 shades of grey. But Jesus would have none of this wishy-washy relativism.
For example, he stated forthrightly, ‘You are either with me or against me,’ (Luke 11:23). He also warned that the way to the father is a narrow way, and few there be who make it (Matt. 7:14). And it was Jesus of course who spoke more about the realities of a lost eternity for those who rejected him, than any other New Testament writer.
So someone said what would Jesus do to Packman, wouldn't he forgive him? The simple fact is that Jesus would not forgive Packman for one simple reason, he hasn't asked for it. See Packman has yet to ask for forgiveness, from society, his peers, the paintball community, even as some may suspect from the victim herself. Since I know something about the McKinnon's take on religon and God, I would dare go so far as to say that he hasn't even asked Jesus to forgive him. So what would Jesus do for Patrick? Not anything more then he would for anyone else in his position and that is allow him to go to Hell because he has not asked for forgiveness and then follow the path the heaven as set down by Jesus. It is up to the ministers of his faith to try and lead Packman to Jesus and his followings. But here is the kicker, you have to want to believe and choose to believe. However if it is not in your belief system then none of the above apply to you.
Now on the to the second verse that they have used.
Let he who is without sin cast the first stone
Here is the full verse both before it and after it:
"And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto Him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, They say unto Him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses in the Law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest Thou?"
"This they said, tempting Him, that they might have to accuse Him."
"But Jesus stooped down, and with His finger wrote on the ground, as though He heard them not. So when they continued asking Him, He lifted up Himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again He stooped down, and wrote on the ground."
"And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst."
"When Jesus had lifted up Himself, and saw none but the woman, He said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? Hath no man condemned thee?"
"She said, No man, Lord."
"And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more." (John 8:2-11 KJV)
This was part of the story of Jesus and the woman who had comitted adultery and was brought before Jesus by the Pharisees for summary judgement according to Mosiac Law, which was the law of the land at that time. What it called for was that someone found guilty of adultery was to be stoned to death. The Pharisees attempted to 'trap' Jesus into denying Mosiac Law therefore invalidating his message to the followers of the day that were locked in the battle between the old religon and the new.
And what did Jesus do? He used the Pharisees own conscience against them by applying the intent of the law rather then the 'letter' of the law that they were using against him and the woman. Such as where was the man that comitted adultery with the woman? Where was the proof of adultery? Where was the guilty verdict? They simply assumed that she was guilty because a charge was leveled and expected him to dispense justice. If he did so then he violated his beliefs and if he did nothing then he violated the beliefs of the day. However he took a 3rd path, one that caused them to re-evaluate themselves and judge themselves as he wanted them to see, as hypocrites who had engaged in the same sins that they were accusing others of doing. Because the only thing that Jesus did not tolerate as bad a person who turned his back on god was someone who led others astray with his words while doing the same things that they were going on about in public.
So the statement of who is without sin in this matter is used as a manner of saying stone a woman because she may be guilty. Packman was found guilty, sentenced to jail and served time in it. By hiding the crime and not only not asking for forgiveness but engaging in 'righteous indignation' in taking others to task for daring not only to look at this but apply their own individual and moral judgements to it. In doing that they comitted as have the rest of you using these words to your benefit one of the ultimate bad things that most Christians would hold against you and that is using the words of God to benefit you and what you want rather then their intention. And that intention is to lead people to Jesus and minister to them his message. You dont get to say things like that to justify your thought, behaviours and attitudes in a way that isn't Christlike and then use it as a shield when people question you or the thing you have brought to them as morally wrong.
It doesn't work like that. You have to be living the righteous life to be able to use the words of God in that manner. And you two clowns, I mean Ensign Dave and Voodoo are no where near righteous or holy in any manner to take me or anyone else to task using the words of God and mean them. Why do I say that? Because anyone who is supposed to use them in the manner that they are using them is supposed to be trying to lead people to Christ. You start off by forgiving the people who persecute you even as you try to minister to them. You don't attack people and then throw the words of God down as giving you the right to do it. You are being as judgemental as you accuse the ones of judging you, the only difference is you are being hypocritical as you are judging them the same time you are telling them not to judge you or someone or something that you don't want judged.
What does that mean? It means that if you are not a minister or trying to minister the word of God then you shouldn't be using his words for your own benefit. It means I am not trying to preach to anyone or lead anyone to God. What I am doing here is pointing out that you are once again engaged in a psychological battle to try and convince people that your way is the right way. I am back to the way of trying to get people to open their own eyes and make their own choices. You have made yours, your attempt to sway others to your own 'warped' ideas is what I have issues with. I care not that you attack me, my weight, my religon, my playing style, my internet posting style, my website, my family or my involvement in any of this. (Since very few people have asked me directly yet all it seems have made assumptions) But what you cannot attack is the truth of the matters and the behaviour that has come not only from Packman, Mother and MXS but also the people who directly associate with them as employees, sponsors, field owners and customers.
You want to forgive them and move on, that is your choice. However not everyone believes as you do. To use the words of God to paint a person as bad or evil if they choose to continue to defend their position is crass and baseless. If I was not a Christian, what would I care what Jesus said or did? Why would it matter? Who would care what you think about judgement and passing it. You didnn't say that for my benefit, only to try and sway people into agreeing with you and make me look like I am the bad one. However in this long blog, I think I have pointed out where you two stand and what you did. And it, in my JUDGEMENT, is probably the worse thing to date that you have done. But hey, you don't have to answer to me, but you will hear what I have to say about it.
And since someone wanted to try and take me to task for using other bits and pieces of other articles to write my own I have listed the author that some of this was paraphrased from as well as additions to it. The paraphrased portions are in italics. No italics is my own words. Bold italics is scripture. Feel free to visit the websites at :
